Help With a Setton RS220

Just got my RS220 baby back from the repair shop, "Vintage Audio" It got a new, total, recap and sounds fabulous~ One thing however. The transformer is a bit flacky. When you fire it up the light flitters for 10 to15 seconds while the transformer gets stable. It starts at 40 volts then settles down to its rated 60vits normal

I dearly love the now improved sound of this receiver, but the transformer has me concerned, I have a line on a Setton 440 that is being parted out. Any chance I could use the 440 transformer in my Setton RS220? model

From the description I got on the RS440 model and its dimension are clos enough to what my 220 has. Might get lucky and the wire codes might

be the same!~!~

Do you know the value and voltage rating of the new caps? If they are lower voltage or much higher in capacitance it could be an issue. Also a new bad cap (it happens) or some issue with the installation. I assume there were no problems before the recap?

Same value and rating on the main filter caps were used according to my bench tech.
Thanks for asking and the help. The amp did work before the recap and now sounds a lot better!
The tranformer is the only issue, once it stablizes for 15 seconds or so it is good to go.

The transformer is a bit flacky.

It's not impossible that the problem is in the transformer, but the symptoms sound to me like the power switch is arcing. That is a much more common failure (and might be easier to fix as well).

it appears the rs220 and rs440 both us transformer #pspw022cox. Rail voltage is 40 volts. Schematics and services manuals available online...

Talked to my tech, he did bypass the power switch and the lights still flickered for 10~15 seconds, he is pretty sure it was the transformer. The voltage did rise and stabilize after the 10~15 sec. warm up. I got a transformer in good working order for $25 shipped from a nice guy on eBay today. He also told me his switch was bad and there was a work around on the internet if need be.
