Hello,

New to the forum. Looking for some help identifying these JBL speakers. I have searched the internet for something similar to these but have not come up with anything. Does anyone recognize these?

Thank,

Mike

Is there another crossover somewhere? There should be a N7000 or something similar, as well as that LX-5. The LX5 does the woofer to mid crossover- while a N7000 would do the mid-to-tweeter crossover.

Those look a lot like a clone of a JBL C36 cabinet, with LE15 woofers, 175DLH mid horns and 075 bullet tweeters loaded. That's a fairly conventional DIY combination for that time (late 1960s).

Regards,
Gordon.

Be careful if you are buying them. I recall reading somewhere here that the surrounds on that woofer are unusual and not easy to properly replace. I could be wrong but it is worth a little research. I remember passing on a pair because of it.

Any idea what they might be worth if I were to make an offer? I know the guy so I can test them at my place to make sure they are good and if not I wont have to pay for them.

Since I can't seem to post new threads I thought I would go this route. What I have learned are the following. 1) No one, nobody, no thing, knows anything about what JBL speaker models came with what drivers. You would think that JBL or Harman and especially Lansing Heritage would have answers but they are as lost as I am. Not only can they not tell you what drivers came with each speaker model, they can't even tell you how to identify their speaker drivers. Now the only people that say they can quarantee and factually know what a driver is, well those are the ones selling such products on some famous websites. Of ocurse they can!! I have been caught with my pants down at least ten times. For instance; I asked a quesion and nobody had an answer. The question was do all JBL LE25 attach the magnet to base with rivets? Just knowing the answer to this one question would save a lot of people a lot of heartache. But sellers know this all too well and state that there products are genuine causing the selling price to go astronomical. So from now on a find a suitable cheap copy that happens to work and use them instead. I have so many SO CALLED REAL JBL speakers lying around that are worthless because I and no one else could tell you if they are real or not. Maybe I should check my truck a little more closely, it may be an inferior brand in disguise. I hope I'm preaching to the choir, but if not please save yourself some money and a lot of headaches by not buying all of this crapola.

Hey WayneHunter;
If you really want to find out if your components are Real JBL's
Move your questions and Clear photo's over to the Lancing Heritage forum.
Ask politely!
There are many of us who are very familiar with mostly all of the different
over 70 year production of JBL drivers.

Are you serious? that's an incredibly broad far fetched assertion

I'm guessing here but I highly doubt there are "a lot of people" focused, to the point of heartache, regarding if "all" LE25's magnets are attached with rivets.

Not even close

Per some of your recent posts you seem to have a very negative, pessimistic view point.

In this thread below you're bashing Pioneer

..I got shafted a few times before I realized what was happening. .. I bought a Pioneer SA8800 and being a newbie I was going through listings later on that I found out that my amplifier doesn't look nothing like the photos I was seeing. Pioneer was the worst at doing this, ..All companies have their SCAMS but Pioneer took it to an entirely different level at times.

In this one, well I don't know what you're trying to convey

... I've been trying to learn electronics from books "$150 The Art Of Electronics", you tube videos, magazines, etc. I've been at it for 50 years and still can't find the answers to my questions. Even on this site I hardly ever ask a question because it either gets rerouted, taken down because somehow it was construed as racist, or everyone on here is in the same boat as me and don't have any answers. Or they may know an answer but they certainly don't want you repairing your own equipment. I've never ran across anything that explains how an amplifier works, starting from the transformer, to the power supply board, then to the amplification unit, or to the preamp, then on to the outputs, etc, etc. ....
