Help with warm Akai AT-V04

Hey all, my first post here. I Have an Akai AT-v04 tuner that works fine but it gets warm after bieng on for a little while. Popped the top to have a look once and it appears O.K. but noticed the transformer bieng very warm, almost hot and a D313 transistor, it's heatsink is very hot. These components create enough heat to feel on the front panel after a while. What could be causing this? Failing power supply capacitors? I have nothing to check measured voltages against so can anyone help me with a schematic? Thanks, Jim

mine never runs hot

I've had one of these great tuners for 25 years and I've never noticed much heat dissipation from it. As you know, there are no vents on the case and the inside is pretty well packed with electronics.

I recall that there are a few small heat sinks attached to the boards, and a modest sized transformer, but nothing that looks like it would generate a lot of heat.

As a disclaimer, I hardly ever have this turned on for more than an hour or so at a time. The tuner seems to come to operating temperature very quickly.

Re-caps are good on units this old but as you've said it's working fine, no noticable hum, not blowing fuses etc., I rather doubt there's a problem really. The transistor you're questioning tr-23 is the main regulator for the 15v supply and it should/will run pretty warm. So long as it's not been running warm enough to cause cold solder joints or burning of the board I wouldn't sweat it.

Right. Don't sweat it, maybe I'm running too warm.

Thanks Ron. I measured 14.7V at pin 8 on the 4558 op-amp. The transformer secondaries measured, referenced to ground.
1.3V/Yel.
1.8V/Yel.
34.2V/Org.
21.2V/Red
20.9V/Blue

James,
looks good or at least close. The voltages are a bit low but consistantly so - so either your line voltage is below 125 or the meter is reading a little low.

Akai tuner AT-V04 power transformer

Dear all's

I just have buy vintage Akai tuner AT-V04 from online thread w/o power supply transformer.

Could any one knows datasheet secondary voltage of these power supply transformer? Or how to find it's......

OEM schematic diagram has been download from "www.hifiengine.com" but no initial voltage state on the pictures.

Cheers
