Heresy Decorator Model Questions

Another pair popped up in upstate NY and I'm the proud owner. Consecutive serial numbers, bull nose trim, striped badges, metal glides at the bottom, HD-BR designation.

Another oddity! Congratulations on your purchase. I'm curious about your serial numbers, possibly close to mine?

Serial numbers are 34R335 and 34R336. Unfortunately no "OD" initials stamped on the cabinet as far as I can tell. The "USA" stamp is clearly visible though.

Yours are from 1977, so definitely not from the same batch as mine, even if it was a factory thing. It's hard to believe that these were modified by owners in the same manner?

I'm with you on that one. The fact that 3-4 pairs with the same characteristics have surfaced to date likely indicates that these were custom made at the factory.

I also have a set of these. Mine are 38R881 and 882. HDBR, but are walnut stained. USA and OD stamps. I found this info on the Klipsch forums about Cornwalls and I suspect that that the same is true for these Heresy's.
"1. Cornwall Decorator series were later given various grille fittings. The first was a standard sized grille with Velcro tabs that would simply be surface mounted. In later years a trim kit with a grille was developed."

Decorators don't have a recess for grills. The motor boards are flush to the side's front edges. Thus Decorators have slightly more internal volume. I would say your's are more rare decorators. To include grills one would have to have the added bullnose. I can understand that these were factory issued. Perhaps the owner didn't want them hidden. I like them!!
BTW: no grills on my flat black Decorators. Three metal glides. Badges still in plastic bags stapled to the back.

Thanks for your comments. Just out of curiosity, can you measure from the front to back edges and post them. When I can get to mine I will check, compare, and post the results.

Thanks @lilwing, it all makes sense. Same dimensions, so no modifications needed for the standard Heresy or Decorator cabinets, just move the motor board.
