Heresy Noise

My Heresy Is have developed a noise in one of them. There is a sound like paper is torn in it. It comes from the tweeter... pretty sure, and it kinda goes pffffttt. I hope you can understand my description . The crossovers have not been updated but I have new Solens for them. I have also read about a diaphragm before and want to know what is involved there. Should they be changed? These are 1977 models.

Usually, the K-77 tweeters just quit and then it is time to replace the diaphragms. I guess it is possible for one to still be working but making some strange noises, but I haven't seen that before.

Have you for certain isolated that sound to the tweeter? You can stuff a rag into the midrange horn to better isolate the tweeter. Also, have you swapped the Heresy's to the opposite amp channel? That would let you know that the problem is in the speaker and not something upstream.

Thanks Bob. Yeah that is how I found it to be the tweeter with a rag. I am going to swap channels and see if the sound moves.

Once again it's not always as it seems. I switched the norm./reverse to Rev and the noise switched speakers. i will look elsewhere. I am going to recap these3 as soon as I get this sorted out. Thanks again Bob for pointing me in the right direction.
