Heybrook HB2.5’s

Hello All, I’m new to this forum so please be gentle, recently acquired a set of Heybrook HB 2.5 Floor standers!! They are made in collaboration with Audio Art, I can’t find anything out about them on Google apart from the fact that they are made in Germany, the guy I bought them from was German so that makes sense, he says he bought them in 1995!!
I Paid £120 for them and they sound awesome!!

Heyrbook is not that well known in the states but I have heard of the brand. I'd say you did well. What are you driving them with?

BTW, 1995 may seem like a long time ago to you (and to be fair, it's 29 years), but this forum was started only a few years after that. Many of us are running equipment from the 1980s and earlier.

Thanks for response, so is this a mainly US forum?! At the moment I’m using an Audiolab 6000a Amp, I have a lovely old Hitachi amplifier that I will use when playing vinyl which is a Rega Planer3.. can you explain what benefit if any I would get from a pre amp or power amp.. many thanks

An integrated amp (what you have) is a pre-amp and power amp combined in a single chassis. The primary advantage of what we call "separates" (in most systems you need both a pre and power amp) is the flexibility to choose the features you want in both, without being constrained to a single manufacturer (in theory, at least in some cases, you'll also get better quality, since the circuits are isolated from one another and each has its own power supply). Also, standalone power amps are generally available with much higher power than integrated amps, if you need a lot of power. In fact, your amp has preamp outputs, so if in the future you want to upgrade the power side, you can use the Audiolab as a preamp, if you're happy with its features.

the HB2 was a 600-700/pr speaker the HB3 was about 1000 a few years before the 95 purchase of these. Seems for the £120 paid you did well and they should sound nice.

They really do, 90cm Tall 30cm deep and 25cm wide they weigh 19kg 8inch woofer 4inch mid and tweeter! The sound is superb!
My introduction into tower speaker was a pair of Totem Arro’s that sound amazing but then we moved house and our lounge got much bigger the Totems still did a great job but I felt I needed something bigger! So about 3 weeks ago I bought a set of Tannoy Revolution xt6f’s they got 5 star reviews and I found a great set going cheap but they just haven’t done it for me!! As soon as I played these Heybrook’s I had goosebumps on goosebumps

Have a pair of HB1. The refoam of woofers only worked on one. Think there might be spider damage. The removable panel on back with cross over is neat. Have the grill emblems but the foam grills are long gone. Got them from a fellow emplyee. He had them shipped over with his belogings from the UK. He also gave me an A&R Cambridge A60 intergrated amp and tuner. Both requires a 120w to 240 converstion box. Had 'em 20 years. My two cents LOL

I out some real cheap woofers in them. Enough to sense they are a nice design.

Yes my dad had the HB2’s and powered them with same Amp as you! I think they were sold hand in hand back in the 80’s!
