I wanted a cheap digital music player to take with me when we go fishing etc. I decided on the HiBy R1 player from Aliexpress, the only place you can buy these. No affiliation. I'm not using earbuds but my much loved Audio Technica AD-700 open back headphones. All the music files I put on the separate to purchase Micro SD card (which I purchased locally as nearly all the ones sold on AliExpress are fake) are 320kps MP3's. The sound is outstanding, I wasn't ready for it, thought it would sound like listening to them plugged into my PC, I couldn't be more wrong. For the price of admission this thing is a bargain. It has a touch screen and shows all the cover art and I nearly forgot to mention it's small, about the size of a credit card and a 1/2" thick. How do those Chinese do it for so little money. Has anyone else got one of these and what's your opinion of them?

Never saw it on Amazon, but just found it and it's around 30% dearer than Aliexpress. Once you have an Micro SD card installed you can plug it into your PC via USB and add, edit and delete files. This little thing is amazing value IMHO. I'm thinking of getting an 3.5mm stereo to RCA chord and plugging it into my amp as a music server, it should work?

You can put 2 Terabytes of storage on it but being a cheap old soul I opted for the much cheaper 128gb one, but that holds well over 13,000 MP3's by my calculations. According to the Amazon ad it will play "MP3, WAV, APE, FLAC, DSF, DFF, ISO, CUE, WMA, OGG, AAC, Opus, AIFF and many more".

It can connect to WiFi although I haven't bothered to set that up. If I press on 'Stream Media" it has Tidal and Qobuz icons. If I press on Wireless it comes up with icons for Bluetooth, Airplay, DLNA and HiBy Link and WiFi. I haven't read any of the manual 'of course' and just figure out how to get it to work by trial and error and I'm just using it as a player from the Micro SD card.

I also love the fact it shows the cover art in nearly full screen when songs are playing, until the screen timeout activates, but that can be adjusted.
