" Authenticity of the original cuisine and the way it's made"???? LOL! What the hell is THAT??? Do you own a Cit II? Have you restored a few using KT88 and KT150 tubes???

It sounds like you don't believe in the restoration of vintage components. LOL! If that's the case, you won't be able to listen to your vintage equipment for very long!
In addition, as soon as you change ANYTHING, it is't the "original cuisine" anymore, but now something MORE than the original! LOL!

BTW, the noise floor of this amp is now decibels lower than with a standard restoration. You need to put your ear within 2" or less of the bass speaker to hear it barely puuurrrrr instead of buzzzzz from 15"-20" away!!! But, that has to do with the the grounding scheme, layout, lead dress and the arrangement of internal components, inputs and outputs...

Obviously, you are missing the point (or haven't read the entire thread). I'm not SELLING anybody on this resto mod, no matter how good it is. It was a discussion about someone's Cit II, with improvements to it's output and a very general discussion of what it took to accomplish this task.

The original tone and output characteristics of the Cit II, in fact, are much improved from the usual KT88 tubes. The point was to perform a restoration using 'McShane' board components and practices with 'Ampmedic' improvements to operate the higher output and demands of the KT120 or KT150.

I, and the owner of the other Cit II under discussion, now benefit from the improved and involving characteristics of KT150's in the Cit II. The original trafos are still there, which are the soul of the amplifier, operating quietly, with less heat and strain after the mods, than after a typical restoration!!! It's all 'win-win.... If you like the idea, then go build it, and it you don't, then don't build it... I'm only discussing the possibilities and feasibility and not seeking your approval. You could also do half the amount of work and still use your KT88's which would make too, for a better sounding Cit II than a stock resto... But, once you hear the KT120's or 150's in this amp, you'll never look back...

And if you don't believe me, that's alright too!!! LOL!

Good luck to you all,
AAR

If original Citation is so bad and buzzing as you suggest, then what all "buzz" is about this model. It all sounds like poor design and implementation to me. Why would so many people want to have one?

You must be a democrap! LOL! LOL! LOL!

Using 150's or 120's????
You haven't followed the discussion from the beginning.... LOL!
In a Cit II there are several reasons why you should not.. LOL!
When you are through reading it all, you might tell me what you have learned.. LOL!
If you haven't learned anything, you might tell me why you think you CAN and/or CANNOT.. LOL!

LOL!

I hope ampmedic is just your nickname. I'd never trust my deuces with someone who carries on like you do.

You'll have to do your own research..

Thank goodness I don't depend upon forum trolls like you, just waiting to pick an online fight while lurking behind emails!
Get a life..
