Hot Dog! Another "Vinyl sounds so good" thread!

Wow!

Sorry for another thread like this, but the Philips 312 that I picked up last week sounds great! In anticipation of buying a new stylus for my Stanton 681, I just picked up a cheap-o AT cart to make sure that the TT still worked.

After about 3 hours of cartridge adjustment, azimuth adjustment and a LOT of tinkering with the funny arm on the 312, I sat back and listened to my stack of records.

Right now is my favorite song, Steely Dan's "Home at Last". What an appropriate song for the beginning of my return to vinyl!

I pretty much spend my days at home listening to my records. That and buying records. But I will agree, they do sound great:yes:

A few months ago I would've said...
Vinyl + Good tunes = Fun

But now...
Vinyl + Good tunes + Vintage Receiver = BLISS

Agreed on the Vintage receiver. Nothing beats vinyl and (properly restored) tubes.

I found about 10 records at Goodwill yestrday... all in good to great shape. A bunch of 70s classics from the Doobie Bros, Peter Frampton and the Eagles. Toss in some jazz and classicals that I found, it was a good day!

No need to apologize for another thread like this. i like talking about how much I love vinyl almost as much as I love listening to vinyl! :thmbsp:
The way I see it, we never have the same conversation twice, even if the topic is the same.
BTW, what 'cheap' AT cart did you put on it?

I think it was a NOS 92E cart. It sounds a lot better than $30 should. I can't wait to get the new stylus for the Stanton 681 though.

I'll admit one thing... there is something about my love for vinyl that incorporates the music itself with the actual technology. Not that digital technology isn't interesting, but the mechanisms and physics of a turntable are just so much more romanticized.

To think that those tiny grooves and bumps create actual vibrations that are amplified into the sounds I'm hearing... it's remarkable.

Have been enjoying LPs like never before. Now I get it. Sounds like you got a great one there. I have a new stylus coming for this Dual which either goes to a friend or my JVC does, or... Anyway, the 622 has a sort of feelgood sound to it, what's all that about? It's like ... addictive. Planning on DIY RCM, carbon brush is on the way, and other stuff. Going nuts at Bookman's when I visit Tucson this weekend. Spinning out of control... err so to speak...

I thought I would be in a spot of trouble when i just HAD to have that dual 1218.
I thought i was going to get into trouble after i kept on coming home with more lp's.
I thought i put the cherry on the top when i bought the dual for a little too much even though it didn't work.

But after some oiling and setting everything up , the wife is REALLY happy.

And without knowing it we are spending more and more time looking putting on another LP rather than watching tv.

Only thing I keep hearing is "when are you getting more Queen lp's"
