I personally think he's really good, Prelude and Deodato 2 are probably 2 of my favorite albums by him and are easily in my top 10 Jazz albums of all time. Whats every one else's opinion of him. :smoke:

The only thing I can recall hearing by him was his version of "2001/Also Sprach Zarathustra" (Still have an edited 45 of it.).
I take that I need to check out his albums then. :)

Prelude and Deodato 2 had an impressive line up to say the least . . . good stuff!

Hubert Laws (flute); John Tropea (electric guitar); Ron Carter (bass); Stanley Clarke (electric bass); Jay Berliner (guitar); Billy Cobham (drums); Airto (percussion).

Now we're veering into Montovani, Ray Conniff, and Percy Faith territory. Although, I find "Theme From a Summer Place" oddly compelling with its abject lack of soul.

Deodato has some great guitar tone that gives it that Les Baxter mixed with the Jefferson Airplane sound.
