How much is my Garrard worth?

Garrard 301 grease bearing in excellent shape. Was NOS then cleaned and regreased.
Michell Special Version RB250
Benz ACE High Output with about 300 hours on it

Plinth is an early Nantais creation.

I also have the original manual and box which is pretty dog earred by now. Some of the accessories such as original 45 rpm spindle are intact. Also have the tube of Garrard grease with a lot left in it.

So what do you think it's worth?

why do you wanna know what its worth ? you trying to flip it? your new here so my friendly 2 cents would be have a read in the rules and guidelines for this forum :thmbsp:

Your Garrard is worth exactly what the highest bidder will pay for it. How much exactly is a tough nut to crack, these days.

Ya, I have no clue what it's worth. I would like to know for insurance purposes. Is tracking eBay prices valid as an insurance estimate? Somehow I doubt it. I live in fear of this old building I live in burning down.

And it does sound wonderful.

Thanks. I am not that keen on the look of the plinth but it's nice to know others appreciate it.

The TecnoWeight and VTA adjuster work like a charm. A rewire of the arm is a bit expensive but I hope someday to have it done. That said, I can live with it as is.

I emailed a dealer that offers free insurance quotes. Not sure what his policy is. Maybe it's only free after my apartment has burned down.
 
What it's worth, depends who's selling and buying: my 301 I acquired when a cousin was moving house, and said: "Oh there's an old record player in the dining room that I never used - maybe you want to come & take it before I go".
 
Unfortunately quoting opinions from here won't carry much weight with an insurance adjuster. Because it's a custom piece, it'll be really hard to rate as a whole. You can get a decent idea on the value of the component parts from the internet. The value of the arm is fairly well established, as the components can be had new. The actual TT can be variable. The Nantais plinth is the hardest part to value, and the only real way you could get any money for it is by presenting a purchase receipt (not sure Jean Nantais did that back in the day).
You'd need an agreed value policy from your insurance company. Find a bunch of things that show the value of individual components, add them up, and ask for a value about 20% higher. See if they accept.
 
The dealer put the replacement value at $2500 but said an "equivalent" new turntable would be about $1200. Not sure where he gets those prices but for what it's worth my apartment insurance will cover that I think. I hope I never have to worry about it.

An equivalent item is one that's currently available that approximates the performance of the original. That said, a 2010 Mustang is probably not worth as much as a mint 1967 Mustang. I think you'll need to make sure it's at least listed on your policy, even if it is covered automatically.
