How to connect two MC240 as monoblocks, help please!

Greeting to all! I am new to this forum and am sincerely looking for help to guide me to use MC240 as monoblock. I am using McIntosh C20 as preamp and two MC240 poweramp are used to drive Altec 604E horn speakers. My current way of using MC240 as monoblock is to connect the cables like the following:
1. Connect Speaker cable (+) to MC240 8ohm Output (Right)
2. Connect same Speaker cable (-) to MC240 COM Output (Left)
3. Use a short single wire to connect MC240 COM Output (Right) to 8ohm Output (Left)

From my knowledge, this should make each single MC240 to output 80W power, but the question is, is my current way of connection correct? If not, what is the better way to connect MC240 as monoblock?

The other question is regarding the output port selection, since the input impedance of Altec 604E is 16ohm,
so I connect 2 8ohm in series. Is it correct?

The manual has it this way:

If the speaker impedance is 2 ohms, connect one speaker lead to the screw marked LEFT-COM and the other to LEFT-4
Connect a wire between LEFT-COM and RIGHT COM
Connect another wire between LEFT 4 and RIGHT 4


If the speaker impedance is 4 ohms, connect one speaker lead to the screw marked LEFT-COM and the other to LEFT-8
Connect a wire between LEFT-COM and RIGHT COM
Connect another wire between LEFT 8 and RIGHT 8

If the speaker impedance is 8 ohms, connect one speaker lead to the screw marked LEFT-COM and the other to LEFT-16
Connect a wire between LEFT-COM and RIGHT COM
Connect another wire between LEFT 16 and RIGHT 16

If the speaker impedance is 16 ohms, connect one speaker lead to the screw marked LEFT-COM and the other to RIGHT 8
Connect a wire between RIGHT-COM and LEFT 8

If the speaker impedance is 32 ohms, connect one speaker lead to the screw marked LEFT-COM and the other toRIGHT 16
Connect a wire between RIGHT-COM and LEFT 16

I guess you do the opposite for the other channel?

That's correct. To be clear it may be better to say: your right preamp output would go to one amp and the left preamp output would go to the other amp.

One amp per speaker with everything as close to identical as possible, all wires same length...
