the new list price on this is 7K , also have you noticed most of the used Mcintosh on Ebay is sellers from Japan with fake free shipping ( what that means is the shipping is obviously added to the price so that you are still paying shipping.) is it just that they are hoping someone won't do reasearch before they hit the BIN?

I knew who the seller was before clicking the link.
Well I was 98% sure.
Been discussed more than once on here.

I don't recall seeing any McIntosh equipment having been recorded in SOLD listings that were offered from Japanese sellers at prices far beyond market norms.

Skillful Japan Sailor. The name says everything. There are a lot of discussion regarding this guy already and every year.

The theory is that he finds stuff in Japan at audio stores and lists it on eBay at twice the price. If it sells, he buys it from the store and ships it. If they've sold it already, he refunds the customer.

I can't believe anyone would do business that way. I mean, I believe what you said, I'm saying thats a terrible business model.

It would be a terrible consumer model to buy it in the first place. Not that that excuses the seller, but he depends on buyers not doing their homework. It takes two for this dirty tango.

I just got a c 50 for just over 3K I sure hope some poor soul doesn't get taken in my this guy.

I thought that was a GREAT business model. You don't have to inventory anything. Isn't that how many of the e-commerce companies started, including Amazon??

In fact, I have bought something on eBay last year, the guy then turns around and bought it from Amazon, which was then shipped to me. Now...I did not understand that.

It is a business model and it has been there since the beginning of EBAY. When you sell something and if the buyer specifically ask you do not put receipt or invoice in the box with an address different from his? That's it. And they have a name "Drop Shipper"

I've always wondered if people do that on eBay with LP's that are readily available from on-line retailers.

The other one I've seen is people list items and once they sell they buy them from Amazon and use their prime account to ship it for free to the buyer.

..But it's "Superior product Good Working." How can you go wrong?

I see current model electronics selling all the time on ebay for more than retail stores. I guess they get enough people that assume that if it is on ebay it must be cheap.
