I guess the meaning of "great condition" has changed...

It looks okay to me?

<<SANSUI AU - 717 Integrated Amplifier in great condition>>

followed by

<<it needs fixing. no sound is coming out.>>

accompanied by pics that would imply that it was used as a foot stool.

And if you look at his feedback you note the following:

<<got item, but didnt work. seller refunded money and kept communication rwbjlmb ( 2 ) Apr-13-09 13:31
SANSUI AU - 717 Integrated Amplifier in great condition (#290284759421) >>

Methinks tool does not go far enough.

Shipping seems just a bit high too. I guess he figures if you an look past the damage, you can look past the extra (profit padding) shipping.

Wow!
this is worse than the 'fair' i was chuckling about a couple of weeks ago..
somebody should try to keep Mr Wonder from selling on ebay..

This auction is for a used item in fair cosmetic condition with only minor scuffs and scratches associated with normal use. The wood on the corners is starting to split a little (see photos). All of the knobs, besides the meter on/off knob, are missing. A tool is required to turn the speaker select knob.

$50 shipping? Somehow I don't see him using foam sheets, bubble wrap, etc to pack it & in this situation it probably doesn't matter.

I love how it has an option to buy a warranty. :D

I'd say it's in "Grate" condition..... meaning it grates on my nerves to see audio equipment this trashed described as "great".

C'mon guys, a couple of good whacks with a sledge, some caulk, and a little touchup paint and that beauty will be good as new!

I'd grab that Sony in an instant if I could physically go fetch it!
New wood on the side is a doddle - my local timber dealer gives away bits that sort of size for nothing, and a handful of generic black knobs would look fine on it.

"outside of that she's a cherry..." (name that tune)

Minor damage from normal use... as the wheel chock of an industrial crane...

Sheesh.

Not a chance I'd buy that WRECK, when you can buy this one for $799

Looks like “Overall in beautiful condition” has also been redefined. I saw this listing for a JVC 4VR-5446 while looking over a Pioneer SX-D7000 from the same seller.

Here is the exact wording from ad and some photos they provided reaffirming the claims!

Working condition: This JVC receiver is in excellent working and sounding condition. All functions such as the AM/FM radio, AUX, Phono, volume, bass, treble etc... are all working with out a problem.
Couple of missing buttoms. There are 2 Equalizer knobs that are missing. The AM button/knob on the back of the unit is also missing.

Physicall Condition: Unit show normal wear and tear. Front panel is free of damages such as dents/dings or scratches. Sides, back top and bottom are in great shape, free of dents/dings. Balance knob is not original. Overall unit is in beautiful condition.

From the last 4 items I bought on the bay only 1 was in the condition as promised. 2 DOA and 1 a little better then DOA.
I am still trying to get my money back on the last one. Shipping took 4 weeks from Texas to Washington.
I think I will stop buying from the bay.

These units all come with the EXCLUSIVE free (no charge) "Tail Light Warranty"!!

The second I see your tail lights, the warranty is done!
