I just scored a pair of Nova-8's for $20

Estate sale, showed up at the end. Picked up a murray riding lawnmower for $160 and a pair of Nova-8's for $20. The Nova-8's are in pristine condition. They were mounted on shelves on a wall and haven't been moved since they were installed. The 3/4" thick layer of dust and nastiness behind the speakers attests to that. There's not a single scratch on them! I can't wait to recap the crossovers and try them out!

Wow, congrats. I have a pair that are waiting to be re-capped. Sound very good as they are. I have never been so lucky as to find anything good left at the end of the sale. Good price on the rider too. Should post a couple pics of your Nova's.

Nova 8, or Nova 8a/b?

Purty little things in any case. I had a set way back in the day and loved them. Still got a set of the matching Nova 6 stashed in the attic.

PS ... those did use electrolytics in the crossovers, so a recap probably isn't a bad idea. I'd try them first anyway. If you DO recap, use film. There's also a few threads bouncing around about modding them for better punch.

Cool. These are nova 8s, not the 8b's, but I think I might do that crossover mod anyways. Tried them this morning, and they sound good. Had them on the floor so they were really boomy, and I noticed they sounded a lot better when I got down and sat on the floor. So they definitely need stands. And that crossover mod sounds like it would help with off axis listening too.

I wonder how these stack up against my ADC 303AX speakers. Might have to do a comparison...
