Depends on the era. The 1972-1975 era Gillan-Glover, Coverdale-Hughes, and Coverdale-Hughes-Bolin configurations are outta sight.

Yeah, I thought I kinda knew Deep Purple, until I listened to Stormbringer. That was interesting. :yes: BTW, congrats on a buncha posts, Mystic. :)

Its funny you ask that question as I am going to be painting my 9 year old daughter's room that exact colour because of the band name....Deep Purple she also is keen on drums and has a drum kit set up in her room :rockon:
 
I remember hearing Smoke On The Water for the first time on the radio back in 1972. Been a big fan ever since.
 
I made my best buddy very happy recently when I presented him with the original Japanese Laser Disc of Deep Purple Live at California Jam 1974. He is both a Purple freak and a LD enthusiast. Snagged that at WFMU this year for $6!

I love the Purple myself as well. In fact I was planning on playing the 3CD Live in Japan '72 set later.
 
Their still great in concert. Steve Morse is excellent!

One of my all time favorites. Especially the early stuff!
 
Have loved them since Machine Head as well! I have to dig that out and see if the grooves are smooth or not. :)
 
Not only DP is my favorite, but (thanks to my choice of music to play at home) it became my 22 years old daughter's favorite band too.

This is gonna sound sexist , but I thought Pink Floyd would be a better choice of color .

My favorite album is Perfect Strangers .
 
First concert I ever saw was Deep Purple on the Perfect Strangers Tour. Turned me on to Rock N' Roll.
Last (big) concert was Deep Purple in our little city of Fukuoka, here in Japan.
Paice totally stole the show.

Your "little city" has been the scene of many monster-sized performances, Mr S77. I have a NY&CH show from '76 (or is it '78) in Fukuoka that is blazing & amazing, man, to name one. Bands exhibited a tremendously positive resonance to the Fukuoka audiences of the '70s. Seem to recall at least one Sabbath performance (Dio era, as I recall) and of course there was the great Bolin-era Deep Purple performance of 12 December 1975... set list that night included:

I like Deep Purple. Favorite album is Stormbringer, I had a battery and 8-track player and that 8 track in my room when I was a teen. Nearly wore it out.

Just the other day I heard some version of the band was comming to S'toon in Feb. went online to check for tickets. $201.00 + taxes and fees.... I'l have to think about it.
