I like my New To Me NHT 1.3's Anyone else?

Yeah, those look like the exact pictures I saw. Still not seeing where they come up with tri pole.

The only company I can think of that marketed a "tri-pole" speaker was Miller & Kreisel. Most everyone else made a di-pole, bi-pole or a "multi-pole" which is switchable between the 2 modes of operation, some even allowed for a 3rd mode depending on the driver configuration. the third mode being DIRECT radiating. Cambridge Soundworks Newton S300 comes to mind

The pictures lead me to believe that these are di-pole ( more ambient/diffuse, and less direct) The "R" sticker might indicate right speaker since dipoles have a definite left and right speaker to maintain proper phasing in the system.

or something along these lines :)

Did not know you would pop on here. Thanks again. :thmbsp: Working great for me.

I'm now looking at some NHT HDPI Tri-pole Speakers to do rear 5.1 surround duty. Someone told me to be careful to be sure that my receiver Arcam AVR100 was capable of use of Tri-pole Speakers. I never knew there was any capability issues. I wanted to use them because I don't have a idea speaker room placement in the back and thought they would work out well. Ever heard of anything about this?

I've never hear of "tri-pole" speakers. The HDP-1's were marketed as, "hybrid dipoles," because the LF was monopole, while the mids and highs were dipole. They work the same as any normal speaker when it comes to amps.

NHT seems to fly under the radar here on AK for some reason.
yet I've not heard any that I haven't liked.

I've used the 1.3a, 1.5, and currently have a pair of 1.1c ( the straight baffle "shielded" version of the 1.1) and the ever further off the radar Pro A-10 system, ( Dual mono amp/ Monitors and Cables) I may be the only AKer who uses that set up.

I enjoyed the 1.3a during the time I owned them and regretted parting ways with them, hence the 1.1c acquisition a few years later. The Pro A-10 system unseated a pair of Yamaha NS10M monitors in the project studio and even served as a desktop audio rig for a while.

Even the current Classic 3 is a pretty nice sounding speaker . ( their lack of a stand option is a bit of a fail though, but that's just poor business judgement not a reflection of the speaker itself).

You don't need AK Validation to verify what Your ears have already shared with your brain. The 1.3 haven't failed to impress. even if 10,000 AK members chimed in with thumbs up. You already know what you experienced and enjoyed it... positive first hand experience and positive opinion formulated, justifiably so.
Game over! :)

LOL! I never heard that either, but someone claimed they were and I knew nothing about them so.... Cant believe everything you hear on the internet.:nono:

Thanks.

There is a pair on Epray as we speak.

Yep I was already looking at them. And I won them for $40 Sun night. Waiting on them to be shipped.

Now I've got to find a Decent SPL meter to dial everything in to my room.

I'm also looking at getting a Soundcraftsmen PCR800 or Soundcrafstmen PM-860. To run my Front L&R NHT 1.3's, pre amp'd thru my Arcam AVR100, to give a little more umph.
