I never would have believed it...

...had I not seen it with my own two eyes (as the ol' cliche' goes).

"Readers' Digest" RDA-2100 AM/FM Stereo Tuner.

I had seen this a couple months ago at a local GW, but hadn't had a chance to take the pics off my phone until just now. Sorry for the poor pic quality.

I didn't get it as I only had an idle curiousity and saw no intrinsic value.

Anyway, I thought y'all would get a kick out of this. Anybody ever hear of this "line" before???

Probably something they (RD) sold or gave away as prizes "back in the day".

Looks like it could have been made by Matsushita (parent company of Technics, Quasar, some JC Penny MCS , and Panasonic).

Next time you're there, and if it still is, look on the back to see who made it.

Reader's digest did make quite a few decent-quality vinyl LPs. Maybe this was part of some kind of promotional package for those? Subscribe to the "monthly LPs club" and get a discount on your music system? Would be interesting to find out some history behind these.

i did see a readers digest receiver at a garage sale. small unit, wood grain, silver face. very light, would estimate about 10 watts per channel. i passed.

I live near Sun City,a huge retirement community, and I see RD stereo equipment all the time.I bet it WAS sold to people who belonged to the record club.I was given a ton of those records a while back, most of them still sealed.
