I recorded a pretty good week....Tascam CD-A500

Its been a pretty good week for finding gear this week. Tuesday yielded a Yamaha RX-900 in very good shape. Yesterday it was a Sony STR-DA1ES in equally good shape. Today it was a Tascam CD-A500 with the original owner's manual taped to it. I don't need anymore gear but it is hard to walk away from some of this stuff when they are at bargain prices.

I don't think the Tascam is near the quality of my Tascam 112 or 122 but it does not sound too bad. Should make it easy to make some tapes.

Anyone here have any long-term experience with this piece?

The cassette deck is decent, no better. No 112 or 122. The CD player is very good. Mostly aimed at churches, fitness center use, and clubs and corporate media rooms. Not the highest end, but sturdy and good.

Thanks for your response you are confirming my initial impressions. I don't know if it will make it into the regular line-up of one of my systems but I think it will make it very easy to record some CD's on tape. I do like the bi-directional playback on the tape deck. Makes it easy to just pop in a tape and forget about it for awhile.

Trying to find a spot for the Yamaha though. A very nice receiver!
