I was just given an A/V speaker set up out of the blue.

So I'm pretty stoked, my sisters boyfriend pulled all of the gear off the walls of his dad's house to do a remodel, I'm guessing. He gave me a Bose Acoustimass 10 series 3 complete less cables but looks like there easy to make. Here's the deal I have nothing now and would never spend any money on my TV. I have heard some badass set ups and it is impressive and do enjoy it. I know this Bose gear is far from badass but given I can put these little cubes on the wall without obstruction and enjoy the three movies I watch a year is pretty cool, for free. The sub is actually kinda big though. He gave me a PS 3-2-1 series 2 as well but without the media center (powered DVD/CD player), this on top of the Cinemate GS 3 I have boxed up without the remote it's getting comical. Anyway just thought I would share in this forum to see if anyone had any comments besides throw it in the trash. I'm assuming this will be a big upgrade from the little Dayton 3.5 full range speakers I currently have on either side of my TV.

Hey...I have heard a few Bose Acoustimass systems and have to say, I was impressed. They are probably not the best for music, But for home theater, They are a HUGE step up from TV speakers and many sound bars. The big plus is of course they can be tucked away in the corners on the wall. Use a separate stereo system for music with something like a vintage Realistic receiver and their Nova or tower speakers that can often be had for cheap. Its all many folks need.

I am having to buy an AV reciever, 5.1 with HDMI. Guess what, there are a freaking lot of those out there, holy molely. I'm picking up a Yamaha RX-V 365 on Monday for $75. I think it will pair well with what I have and it has HDMI. Ironically I just sold a Marantz DV7600 so I'll need to pick up a decent DVD player. This is all for TV only, I'm looking forward to this and experience what 90% or so of the population consider a good AV system. At one point I did have a full JBL Synthesis 7.1 set up using some Bose 301 series III as the rear speakers but only to test it as it was a remodel pull that I was reselling. It was impressive but way way to much for my small space. BTW I'm not a Bose fan in the sense It just happens that way. I do have a Bose 1800 amplifier that I use for music, it's been completely updated, serviced and has enough headroom for any speakers I'll ever have.
