I know it will never happen, but I would love to see Denon reissue their DP-47F fully automatic turntable again... Both in silver and black. Yes, they're still offered on @bay, but the ones I've seen... At reasonable prices, have seen better days.

Or even an improved model that follows the design lines of the DP-47F. Heck, even a model that's better than their current entry level model, the DP-300.

Well, I guess it doesn't hurt to dream!!

Yes that and the DP59L I could have bought new in 1990 instead of the stupid SL 1200 MK II I did buy would be nice. I think the 47 and 59 were the coolest tables Denon made and they were priced right at the time.

The Denon DP-70M tonearms crop up from time to time on eBay for a very reasonable cost. I procured one recently and want to compare it with my Fidelity Research FR-24 and FR-54 tonearms with my modified JVC TT-71. It certainly has potential featuring:

Dynamic damping (in the end of the wand + counter weight)
Gold plated contacts
VTA adjustable on the fly up to 9mm
Magnetic anti-skate
Autolifting at the end of each record

If it can compete with the FR arms on sound quality it will become my primary tonearm. It's certainly a solid feeling arm. Extremely well built. It's almost identical effective length the my FR arms too which bodes well.

Won't happen likely. Denon as it was then is no more, and hasn't been since the D&M buyout. It would be too costly to tool up for and manufacture today as you and I remember this classic. As in good used car expensive. Wasn't cheap to make then either.

Back in the late 80s a music reviewer for TAS actually used the DP47 with a Denon DL160 cartridge. You could tell he was impressed with the budget audiophile quality pieces.

Denon still sells turntables in Japan only (the dp-500m and dp-1300mkii). They are chinese made with Technics sources parts.
Luckily, there are still many dp47s available and quite a few dp59s. All of the ics except the denon microchips are available (and those can be sourced from cheaper tables). So buy a 47 (the 61 is the high mark of the f line) or 59, recap it and then keep it on a expensive surge protector. Prices are beginning to go down because of all the new offerings (which are not as good or are very expensive).

Denon may come out with an expensive turntable since Technics already has (1200g and the newly announced sp10r) and Yamaha just announced(all that would be missing is Pioneer).

Technics has nothing to do with the Chinese Hanpin sourced parts, only styling. Denon turntables are not made by Denon today. Denon ceased making turntables when the Japanese factory shut down.

I'm anxiously waiting for the Bell and Howell turntable to show up on cable tv selling for three easy payments of $19.95, shipping and handling extra. It's called legacy marketing for a low information audience.

Loves me my Denon DP-62L. Beautiful and outstanding performance. Can't imagine having another table.

followed by a Columbia house record club ad or a Firestone Christmas one

Something about lightning striking twice, if you missed the golden age of analog in the 1970s you had another chance up to about 10 years ago when you could pick up some terrific vintage Japanese equipment for mere pennies on the dollar. Word got out and prices quickly climbed turning it into the popular vinyl revival. Still a lot of good tables at good prices but you have to put some work into finding them and knowing what they are but that is one of the reasons you joined AK to get a free education.

...Is Yamaha coming out with its own turntable?? If so, will it be available in the US/Canadian market?? I truly hope so!!
