Fender alone had the 5C1,5E1,5F1,5F2,AA764, etc.
Other companies made them as well. Single ended amps were pretty common back then for small practice amps.
A Champ the hard way (well louder clean tone from a 6v6 tube)... I use my guitar into the Frenzel preamp then to the power amp then to the speaker (a modified JBL D280 in an oversize 1 X 12 cabinet)
Single ended guitar amps have musical qualities to the tone... BTW, I fixed that for you...

Think how many times have you seen someone on stage playing through a champ or other SE amp with a mic in front of it? Zappa played this way, Clapton does at times. I remember seeing Zappa's ratty old Fender on stage when I saw him in concert.

Yeah, you get that 6V6GT overdrive, at concert level volume (going through house system). I love the 6V6GT saturated sound. Much more than the 6L6GC overdrive tone (which volume is stirring the dust in my attic).
When I am motivated and have the parts I am a force, otherwise mostly a farce... the stereo build will take longer.... The OT's I want to use are scarce and my funds dwindle in...
not to thread crap but I helped my son build a 5e1 champ when he was about 10. he bought a squier SS combo, ripped out the amp, punched a few holes, ...
his grin was priceless. Some take their kids fishing, we build tube amps!
