IMF Compact Monitor II - Anyone else have?

So I have an old pair of IMF Compact Monitor IIs and I was wondering if anyone else out there has these speakers and what they think of them. Long story short, mine were damaged in a recent move and I am trying to debate locating another pair (probably a hell of a longshot) or just picking up another pair of equal or better bookshelves for the money. Thoughts, anyone?

I found a pair some years back on the "take it or leave it" (a/k/a "Yankee swap") table at our town "transfer station" (dump). They are absolutely wonderful sounding loudspeakers, and delightfully sensitive as well ('great for tube amps'). The foam surrounds on the MR cones is the only Achilles' heel of which I am aware.

I passed them along to AKer Nat in partial payment for a phalanx of Nikon camera equipment & lenses. AFAIK, Nat still has them.

Is a Compact Monitor II the same as a Supercompact II ? I have a pair of Supercompact II and love 'em. Yes, midrange foam is a problem, but I've located a cheap source.

True enough. I would be fairly certain that the two-ways are worthy as well. The three-ways are just damn fine sounding loudspeakers. Probably safe to say that someone who thinks, say, an Original Large Advent is the be-all and end-all has never heard speakers like the IMFs.

Yeah I really loved my speakers and wish they weren't destroyed. What do you think is my best option for replacing them? Search for more, or are there any equivalent speakers (new or vintage) that might get me close?

You like the IMF. If you're not in a big hurry I say bide your time and look for another pair, or perhaps an alternate IMF model. Just my opinion....

not sure of the OP's locale (UK? Europe?) - if IMF are hard to find, try Braun (or ads in the US) or earlier (ca. early to mid 1970s) KEF. Some fine, very neutral speakers from both manufacturers - in pretty plentiful supply on both sides of the pond.
