Is There a Best Position to Place a Sub with Tower Speakers?

Barba non facit philosophum
I have a pair of Kef R107's and I've just connected an Energy Encore 8 subwoofer to the amp, and It seems to blend in well.
But I would like to try it in other positions to see if the sound improves even more, and I was wondering if anyone has tried different positions, and found some excellent places for a sub.
Thanks for any, and all, assistance.

Maybe because of the size of my room and limited space but mine is dead center between some towers. Sounds pretty good to me!

If you want to find the best position for a subwoofer just do the "subwoofer crawl".
Place the sub in the listening position. Move the chair first.
Play some bass heavy music
Crawl around the floor and listen for where you get the most/best bass.
That's the ideal spot for a subwoofer. Unfortunately that ideal spot is usually not where you would like it to be. In that case pick second best.

Adjusting the crossover frequency and level have been covered in numerous threads.

Agh, JoeESP9 posted right before I did^^^^^^:)

I will post my version of that anyhow. Have fun!
Put the sub in your listening position and play some test tones or your favorite tracks. Something with a variety of low frequencies. Walk around the room and find the spot with the most natural sound at ear level. Those spots are a good place to trial the placement of the sub.

@JoeESP9
Yes, I'm fine with the crossover and volume adjustment, I don't need much volume with the 107s, but that's a good idea regarding the crawl. I'll give that a try, just to ensure that I'm not missing out on where a better placement might be.
Thanks.

@grey
I'm glad you went ahead and posted anyway. Your version is slightly different and I'll try them both.
Thanks.
And these are nice, simple solutions. I haven't heard of this method.

I had it in the center at first, but I wondered if it was blending enough from there. Because it was pointing right at me, I thought I could hear it as a separate entity. In the end, that may be where the room tells me to put it. Clearly, I have some shifting to do.

That's a really good way to integrate the sound for a 30"h, or less, speaker. I'll mention that to my nephew.
But my Kef 107s are already (almost) a tad too high for a sitting position. Mind you, they sound great at that height, and I prefer them not tipped forward.

Yep, my towers are compact, and the subs I chose for the taller pair, monitor Audio Silver 6 at just under 35", are very compact 8" models that work out nicely in the bedroom, because the bed mattress is so deep and the frame high.
