EDIT: Solved. A short near the volume pot.
Hi,
I'm having recurring issues with my NAD3020B.
I just turned my amplifier on whilst the volume pot was a bit high & something blew straight away - causing speakers to hum loudly & the LEDS above the volume to show full power (35w) was being let through.
I disconnected the speakers & powered on again - LEDS still fully lit.
I then checked the output transistors, noticed they were both dead in the right channel, replaced them, & still have the same problem. Even whilst plugged into a dim bulb tester I seem to have the LEDs fully lit - rather than lighting the bulb.
So, the amp doesn't have a short? But it is drawing full power constantly?
What could be the cause? Can a volume pot short circuit & do this?
I've had other issues recently with outputs blowing that I thought i had fixed - but clearly there is something causing this that I have not addressed.
Appreciate any help.
Cheers
