Hi there. Just joined and wanted to introduce myself. I became interested in vintage gear (essentially receivers and turntables) initially in pursuit of inexpensive, quality sound and an affinity for cool, glowing lights. As I've spent some time with this stuff, the "quality sound" has become more apparent.
I currently have a wonderful Pioneer SX-780 effectively integrated into a mixed 2-channel, surround-sound system giving me the best of 2-channel and surround listening/viewing on the same system. I'm happy to share what I've learned with this endeavor with others who may be pursuing similar integrated configurations. Issues of pre-outs, subwoofer integration, etc. took a little research.
Anyway, my main frustration with the vintage stuff relates to repair. Each receiver seems to have something wrong with it and I don't have the experience to troubleshoot effectively. I'm hoping that some of the forums here might help me raise my knowledge level a bit.
So, I guess that's it for now. I have a flakey tuner on my Sansui 661 that keeps cutting out on me that I need to research. I'll likely be tossing a question over to the "tuner", "Sansui" or "Solid State" forums soon. Good to be here.
