Some of you may know that my wife manages a Deli type joint.

To Make a really long story short she has been hiring new employees after clearing out the old managers wastes of space people.

This 20 something year old girl from Florida came in. After the first Hurricane hit down there her and her Boyfriend came back to Michigan after loosing everything in Florida.

Now she has a 3 month old boy by this....for lack of a better word SCUMBAG ! Anyways they move in with this morons parents while she is working to get a place of their own.

After staying there for like a week this Mother F@#kers parents come home one day and say the boyfriend can stay but her and the baby have to leave. From what she told Nancy they gave her no reason and just said leave.

My wife who i consider to be one of the best judge of characters ( OK she married me so thats one strike ) says this girl is the sweetest in the world. Shes a hard worker and wants nothing given to her. She tells me she calls her Miss Nancy ( my wifes name ) cuz that was how she was raised in the south.

I guess her parents just got a place to stay again in Florida and want her to come home. She does not want to because she want the baby to know its <cough> "father"

So here this father is living with his parent who live in palmer park in a 10 bedroom house. and this poor girl living out of her car with a 3 month old baby.

To make matters worse she went to social services today to see if they would help but was told without a SS card or birth certificate they could do nothing. So she heads to the nearest SS office and got the baby's card and went back to social services only to be told NO Birth certificate NO help. The Birth certificate was lost in the hurricane and the hospital where he was born is still no up and running due to damage.

Excuse my language but what a cluster **** our system has become. This girl honestly want to make it here in Michigan ( Why I will never know ) I cannot believe that the system can leave someone live like that out in the cold ( yes its cold already here in Michigan at night ) with a child.

What really burns my britches is the SCUMBAGS father and his Mortgage banker parents would throw her out. What kind of heartless people could do that to a mother and child ??

I know this has nothing to do with AK and I am not asking for help for her from you guys. Its just...............I am so angry that these Inhuman beings could do something like this to someone especially after living through all the crap they did in Florida.


Our society is just so F'ed up to fail someone who is actually trying to make it.

Sorry guys but I feel a little better.

Hey Grumpy!

I used to do a little legal work in FL. Tell this girl to get a "certified copy" of her baby's birth certificate by contacting the Dept. of Vital Statistics in the county where the baby was born. Maybe then she can get the help she needs. You can probably request them on-line.
 
thats people now adays looking out for themselves no atter how much bettero ff they are and wont give anyone the opporitunity to come up to an acceptable stadard of living
 
My wife was just telling me that she feels the parents are just trying to get her to leave her son and go back to Florida and never return.

Can you believe people now a days. Call me old fashioned but what ever happened to taking responsibility and doing the right thing and not to mention how can our public officers leave her out in the cold.:(
 
got lost in the 90's after kurt cobain died, unfortunatley, this is all an effecto f media on people, its a big cycle, and unfortunatley it may work out for te parents, why to the privelaged always ahve to have a silver spoon up thier ass

they always stirr up things...maybe it will spark somebody.....

we need to get our...(for lack of a better term)....'System' back...the machine that runs it now ..has no soul what-so-ever....

The boyfriend allowed this to happen. That tells me that he has learned the lessons of the parents all too well.

I was a Social Worker for many years.While it is true that some folks in need of social assistance are "not willing to get the thumb out" most are unwilling recipients and would prefer not to be.

There are many obstacles for those trying to escape the welfare trap.

In many places one cannot get social assistance without a permanent address but in too many cases the only way one can get a permanent address is to pay a damage deposit equal to a month's rent and pay the first month's rent in advance. In this area that can easily amount to $1500.00 up front before moving in ( I'm talking about a decent 1 bedroom or studio apt. here folks not a penthouse! )

In any event If one has $1500.00 on hand they will not (if honest about it )be able to get social assistance. On the other hand if they don't have the $1500.00 they will be unable to rent a permanent abode and will therefore be ineligible for social assistance.

The minimum wage here in Alberta is $5.50/hour. Guess what most unskilled jobs pay here in Ab. You guessed it !... ( Alberta is BTW the richest province in Canada ).The government has announced that we will have a surplus this year in the neighbourhood of $8,000,000,000.00 but they refuse to spend anything more on the disadvantaged.

Let's say that a single mom finds a way to get into an apartment and wants to work her way out of poverty. In that case she damned well better be able to find a relative or friend to provide cheap day care because on average day care here runs about $1000.00/mo/child .

Let's assume that the young lady is fortunate enough to get a job at 10% over minimum and has been lucky enough to find accomodation at a little under the going rate:

1 bedroom apt. $650.00
Public Transit pass $200.00
Child Care $1000.00
Food $400.00
Utilities $200.00
Entertainment DUH!!
Total $2450.00

Income ($6.00 X 37.5
) X 4.33 = $975.00 - $ 165.00 taxes = $810.00

It is hardly suprising that many folks throw up their hands and forget about getting off of Social Assistance. At least on Social Assistance one is guaranteed substandard accomodation,Krap Dinner and Health Care premiums.

Yep Them there welfare Bums sure are getting an easy ride!

I agree, you'd be amazed at what the threat of publicity will do to some people and institutions.

As for the system.....I know of many Uber Left winger tree hugger types who participated in the Civil Rights marches way back when who look at today's affirmative action laws and the reverse discrimination they represent and ask themselves "What went wrong? This isn't what we were fighting for"

This country hasn't been this divided since the radical 60's. Crap, I better shut up now otherwise this'll spin out of control. Sure hope it works out for her. Please keep us posted.

I think in most States if one is asking assistance the State goes after the father… Seem that most States don’t take to dead beat Dads very well… I would think Social Services would slam the dead beat…
 
Regardless what the parents think of the girl,the baby is a different story.you'd have to have ice water pulsing through your veins to let your own grand child sleep in a car.

Jeez, what a snakeball! A friend of mine lost a limb several years ago and is confined to a wheelchair, but is perfectly capable of working at a desk job (she's a RN) and WANTS to work. But her needs are such that she requires a few extra bucks to help her with her medical needs. Well the goverment gave her two options. Either a) Work and lose ALL benefits... or b) Sit at home, veg out and have ALL benefits. She's looking for an option c) which doesn't seem to exist. :mad:
 
I can't believe what I'm reading. I read this post to Angel and she was SHOCKED . The only thing she said was " Well she can come live with us". I have no doubt Angel would take her and the baby in too. Realistically I pray someone is in the position to help her. I see more able bodied lazy SOB's on social assistance here in Canada than you can shake a stick at. The system is supposed to protect those who can't help themselves ( like a 3 month old baby). Wouldn't a social worker have enough brains to realize the girl and her infant need assistance?

My GF is a social worker and I read the story to her and she said it is a common thing in our system, "those who really need and deserve help can't get it and those that don't need it can" :(
 
All I can say is that someone needs a serious asskickin', and I'd be the one to recruit given my mood today.:bash:
 
Just wanted to clarify something in case it got lost along the way.

I think what really pisses me off the most is her Boyfriend strung The baby out to dry. Now they are both in their early 20's. The only conclusion I can seem to draw is Piss poor parenting by his parents and the lack of any real responsibility.

Like i said Personally I blame the parents but then again I am the type of person who takes responsibility for the actions of my kids.


Am I wrong or is this how 20 something year olds are now a days ?

Pretty shameful for them folks to put their own grand(son, daughter) out on the street. I am sure there is a special place in hell or wherever bad people go, reserved just for them.
