Howdy,all....just yesterday, I found this JVC deck, at a thrift store, and brought it home........

Couldn't test audio output at the store, but it moved tape, and all buttons worked.......and it sounds FANTASTIC!!!!

I recently got a NAK that works, kinda, gotta "loosen" up the transport every power-up, the NAK sounds great....but this JVC works flawlessly, AND ........SOUNDS GREAT!!!!!

I am so happy that I "splurged" and brought this home......about the price of a sixer of green bottled Dutch brew................

It's late, I'm tired, gotta get up early.........here's a couple pix.......

These high-end JVC decks are worth checkin' out...........don't tell anybody..............willhowl:tresbon:

P.S. These pix are pretty bad...gotta study up........this stuff is NOT that dirty....the flash kills.......

P.P.S. the DBX unit is currently used as a LED meter ONLY......I like "blinky lights"......

Agreed! The best Nakamichi alternative on the BX price point of that era. And in my opinion very nice looking. And well built. Excellent sounding and low flutter. What's not to like? A sleeper machine and vastly underrated! :tresbon:

Hey do you use that dbx with your deck? And if so, how are the results? Do you still use dolby if you use dbx?

I have a JVC V-621 (?) or some such, and it is a real sleeper. Nice deck!

DBX.....Looks Only

Thanks KT and bordeno........See P.P.S. in first post........

The DBX is just used as a meter display right now...."blinky lights".........

If I ever DO use it with the JVC....then no......the Dolby stays off......

I haven't recorded anything with the JVC yet........

will keep ya'll informed............willhowl:thmbsp:

This deck and it's near twin the TD-V66 hit way above their league. That's why I have 3. Great find.

Great find. I also lucked out at a thrift and got one of these in mint condition for $5. Works and sounds great and those meters are a blast!

JVC KD-V6.......wow!!!!

Yup!:yes::yes::yes: I bought mine new in '88 or '89 for $300.

I paid $10 for mine, I think. Was surprised how good it sounded. A real gem of a deck.

Yeah, Buddy.......

Thanks, everyone for your supporting posts......

I remain happy with this unit.....it reminded me , years ago I picked up a lesser JVC, same look (black), same era, just less features / specs...pretty pedestrian..........

IT sounded pretty good, too.........I think a belt finally died on it.......don't remember it's fate.......

I have about given up on used cassette decks....too many headaches.....but this one.....now I don't need another....for many moons, I hope...........willhowl:yes:

I bought a JVC KD-A7 deck at the thrift for $25 at the SA. Heavy, works great. I also have a Zenith CV 670 deck that I bought for $10 at the Goodwill that is similar to the JVC V400.

Cool find. I have a JVC TD-W709 that I bought new in the '90s. It's nothing special, but it sounds nice and makes good tapes for my 4Runner. It does have Dolby B, C, and HX Pro.

JVC made some sweet decks, very nice! I maintain my mom's KD-V400 silver beauty :)

Awesome!!!!

OK, Off topic.....but HEY!!!

Thatsa summa cool JVC silver!!!!!!

Nice, Big Tuna..........................willhowl:tresbon:

The KD-V6 is a wonderful deck. Because JVC made so much mid fi stuff, they are not generally known for making great tape decks, but they did. The KD-V6 has 3 heads and the azimuth for the record and play heads is independently adjustable. Very few decks allow this feature, which gives precise alignment. I found mine for $10 at a garage sale. I took one look at that head assembly, gave the lady her $10 and ran!

Jvc td-v6

I own two. One is mint like it just came out of the box. No scratches, no finger prints. They are fabulous decks sound different than my Naks. A little brighter and they set the soundstage a bit different. I also have a BX-300. Although the BX-300 was higher rated by the German Hifi Magazines of the 80s than then the JVC It's hard to say which one I like better, the BX-300 or the JVC. Ergonomically and feature wise the JVC wins hands down. Sonically, I would probably give a very slight edge to the BX-300 although it may just be a matter of taste. They are definitely in the same league. However, with normal tape nothing I have beats the BX-300 accept for my Dragon.
