Kappa 8.1

Well... was hoping for some feedback. Found a nice pair for sale but was not able to hear them as the owner was moving and had sold his other equipment. Does not matter now as they have sold, i have since found out that many consider the 8.1 as one of the best from infinity.

The whole .1 Kappa series seems to have been Infinity's redesign to make the speakers more amp friendly, and to appeal to the burgeoning home theater crowd. Always worth hearing and owning, but I think that the Kappa .1s were perceived as somehow slightly inferior due to the ported design. At least that's the feeling that I got from sales people when demoing the speakers, at the time. Many love the .1s. No way to know, other than to give them a listen.

Also, never pass up an Infinity Emit design. Especially a 3-way with a dome or EMIM! Buy 1st, ask questions later. Resale as needed...! Sorry that you missed out...!!!

Hello......

I own the 7.1 Kappa Model (front port)......For a while I was using a 70 watts Receiver and yes the bass was a little boomy.....

Then I changed to separates including a 260 watts amp......That made a HUGE difference in the way the bass behaved; it became very tight and fast.....
I also remember that the owners Manual recomends to use the most powerful amp one can get; now I know why....

I think these second generation Kappas are great speakers that are often overlooked; the build Quality also seems to be better than that of the first Generation....

Kappa's

Hello,
A few months ago I got a pair for $45.00 at my local thrift store, and was advised by the good Brothers on this forum not to use my Marantz receiver and that was good sound advice so I set about to get a seperate amp and pre and finally found something to drive them, they are just fantastic to listen to but are not as aggressive as my 4311's, but the seperation they give out is wonderfu. get to the Infinity side in the pulldown or type in the search window, you may find the manual. These guy's are very helpful and know their shizzle. Dont forget to say thank you!!!

Wow! for that price i would have bought regardless. The ones on CL were $800 also a nice looking pair of RS 111a`s for $500.

I`m familiar with the older Infinity`s but no experience with the "newer" to me infinity`s and owned a pair of original Servo`s for a number of years in the early 70`s.

I`m more informed now. Thanks.

I would personally buy any Kappa, 0 or .1 series without hesitation. there is something about that combination of EMIT tweeter and polydome midrange that is, magical.

really, you can't go wrong with any of the EMIT models, IMO. the Qa would be the weakest speaker with an EMIT that I've heard so far, but I own a pair and would buy a second pair without hesitation.
