i fired up my kenwood ka 9100 today to listen to it and when i turn it on and the relay kicks a thump goes threw the speakers its not loud thump and when you turn it off it thumps threw the speakers i was wondering if anybody has ran into this before :scratch2:

Remove a speaker grille, and watch the woofer as you turn it on. When it thumps, the woofer will move, but the question is, does it go back to the rest position or is is pushed out or in. If it seems to have moved, confirm by switching off the "speaker A"
If the woofer moves, then you have a DC offset problem that needs attention. If it remains neutral, then you have a nice friendly thump!
 
The relay should be delayed on turn-on by a few seconds. If that is happening, and you still get a thump, offset may need to be set.

If the output relay is engaging immediately on turn-on, then the protection circuit needs attention.
