Kenwood at-70 audio timer doesn't work? Help!

Hey everyone!
I just bought a Kenwood at-70 timer, and the sleep function does not seem to work.... when I set the switch to "sleep" and set the time for 1 minute (00:01 on the display), for example, instead of ticking to 00:00 and activating the switching relay after 1 minute (as it should), it goes right past 00:00 to 00:59. is there something I'm doing wrong as far as operating the timer, or is it broken?

If it's broken, i'm not sure how to fix it.... could someone help me with fixing it? Thanks so much for any help anyone could possibly give me :)!!

It may have a minimum time for the sleep timer. Try an hour. The timer should keep the outlet on for 1 hour, then switch it off.

sounds good! On this timer, you can only set sleep for a maximum of 1 hour, so we'll see what happens :). I'll report back.

i have an old aiwa ghetto blaster with timer i cant remember how the timer works though ..the manual might be easier to find .my guess is they all used the same chips

Unfortunately, I didn't have any luck with setting it for 1 hour or setting it for 9 minutes..... it still goes directly from 00:01 to 00:59 without stopping at 0..... Thanks for the suggestions guys! Does anyone else happen to have any other suggestions as to how I could fix the timer (I think I can assume now that it's broken?)? Thanks for any help anyone could give me!

Hello,

Well, after 8 years here comes the solution :)

First of all, your Kenwood timer is fine, just the procedure was wrong. To set Sleep mode:

1. Move to Sleep position: set time with up/down min button. After that, Led must be ON
2. Move to middle position (not Sleep - this is the key). Led must be still ON
3. Enjoy sleep function!
