crooner said:I went through my old magazine collection and found the old DAK ad. It's from the April 1983 issue of Stereo Review.
Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner, but being the good writer Drew Kaplan is, it's a quite an entertaining read.
He was "slashing" the price of unit to a mere $229 in 1983 dollars.
He also mentions that he bought the entire stock of 2000 units.
Distortion is quoted as 0.005% at rated output (80 watts per channel).
As I recall, DAK (aka Drew A. Kaplan) was a liquidation specialist. The fact that he was selling these Kenwoods makes me wonder why Kenwood had to liquidate them. He was known for selling mostly BSR and ADC items with an smattering of other gear. However, the DAK Catalog you have would be interesting reading. Any chance you could pick up a cheap scanner and share more of Drew's timeless musings with us? His style and approach would work great on E-Bay!
