Kenwood KA 9100 start up pop

I am thinking about a kenwood KA 9100 but it sometimes has a loud start up pop. Not the thump you hear out of some gear but a healthy pop and not always. Ideas?? Is the switch dirty?/ Relay sticking?? I doubt it would be the power packs. What did the 9100 go for new in 79?/

More like some DC offset causing a pop. Where is it coming from?, need to measure to see if it is present, then go chasing down the source. Does it do it on both channels?, try turning balance control one side or the other to see if is common to both channels or not.
Look at page 20 of the SM for DC offset checking/adjustment procedure. You can get the SM from hifiengine.com. Check supply voltages for DCV and ACV ripple.
I'd guess it cost $500-600 new in 1979.
My recommendation is to stay away from this amp because
1) It uses a NEC dual jfet that is impossible to get if it fails, uPA63H
2) It uses a Toshiba module for output devices, that is impossible to get if it fails, TA-100WA
If you are good at electronics this limitation can be over come but you need to know what you are doing

Does the pop happen immediately when the power switch is turned on? If so, the relay delay isn't working.
Does it happen after 10 seconds when the relay clicks? If so the DC offset just needs to be adjusted.
