Kenwood KD 2055 help

I have a Kenwood KD 2055 turntable that I just had tuned up, lubed, new belt, speed calibration and new RCA cords. The problem I'm having is when I play the turntable the volume is almost 50% lower than all of the other inputs such as CDs, FM, DVD and TV. I am running it through a Yamaha RX-V3900 with a PHONO input with the ground connected. It has a Shure V15 RS cartridge that may be old but not alot of hours on it and always stored in a/c along with a new stylus . Any suggestions? I'm trying to get setup to record vinyl to CDs and I'm a little new to all of this. Thx

Normal, don't worry about it. Has to do with the output signal from the cartridge.
Just turn the volume control up when you play records.

Like I said I'm new to this stuff, should I not get a Yamaha CD recorder and just get a good cd burner for my computer and record that way? What is a good software to use? Any help would be appreciated, I'm turning 55 yrs old in Dec. and I have like 3 generations of vinyl going back to about 1970 to listen to and record as much as I can.

I used Wave Repair. It was a shareware written specifically for ripping LPs. It may or may not still be available. At any rate, it could rip only at Redbook. No hi-res. That didn't bother me none, but some folks like hi-res.
See if you can find the manual for the Yammie recorder online. It might have normalization. If not, get whatever is easiest and don't worry about the sound levels. Just turn your volume up higher.
You'll get better dynamics without normalization. I played CDs ripped from LPs in dozens of devices and never had any issues getting the music loud enough.

My one problem with having CDs with such different recording levels is if they are mixed with other regular CDs in my vehicle CD changer is when they change and I don't turn the volume down I'm going to damage my car stereo. In the manual for my Yamaha 3900 it mentions a inline boosting transformer. Is that the same as the pre amps they sell for using this type of turntable to a receiver without a phono input or is that something I should look into?
