Hi Guys,
this morning my wife sends me out to get Garlic from the Local shop, after getting annoyed at having to go, I jump in the car and head off. On the way I see a "Garage Sale" Sign..... I think.. What the Hey, never know what you may find. I go in and I see a Kenwood Model 500 Amp sitting on a bench, I asked the lady how much.... she says it's in perfect working order, how about $20 AU = $15 US.
So I say..... deal.
Man this thing is a heavy beasty

Now I need to give it a good clean and take some pics so you can all check it out.

Anybody got some info about this amp?

Cheers! :thmbsp:

Where can I find this kind of gear on the East Coast of Australia!! Unbelievable. Congrats on that legendary find.

I'm glad it has fallen into the hands of someone who can appreciate and take care of it! It is a classic example of the best of '70's solid-state gear!

Congrats! The Model 500 is an awesome amp, with looks to match. I have found them to be harder to come by than the Model 600, and owned one for a while and really liked it.

Remember this score the next time you get annoyed at a simple request from your wife. Nice!

Wow, I hope your heart is in good shape, mine would have skipped several beats!

I've long known that Garlic has powerful properties to improve one's health. Never realized before that it also helps one to get audio gear 'scores'! No wonder my wife isn't happy when I eat it!

Seriously, CONGRATULATIONS! :thmbsp: That was a real heck of a deal!

Hi All,

Thanks for the replies :thmbsp:.
When I saw the amp (from a distance) I thought it was just a nothing special Silver faced Kenwood, but when I got closer and saw the 4 coke can sized caps and the dual power supplies, I knew that she was going home with me.

I gave the outside a quick clean to take a few pics to show everyone.

And , I did get the garlic for my Lovely Wife :D

Will now have to pop the bonnet and give it a good clean out b4 I use it on a regular basis.

Will let everyone know how I go with the progress.

Cheers!
Mark

In some cultures, garlic is a sign of good luck, in addition to its known health properties. I ain't supersticious at all, but I'll be damned if I'm not getting me some garlic this weekend!:smoke:
