Kenwood system on CL

This guy's kenwood system has dropped from $875 to $350 in the past week or so. It looks like a complete setup but I don't know much about these models. My current system is all Kenwood basic and I'm very happy with those. How does the quality of these compare? What about the quality of Kenwood speakers?
Here are the models:
*KM-208 Stereo Amplifier
*KC-208 Stereo Control Amplifier
*KT-88 Quartz Synthesizer AM/FM Stereo Tuner
*KX-78CW Stereo Cassetts Tape Deck
*KD-48F Full Automatic TurnTable
*DP-M98 CD Player

I wouldn't buy all of that for $375. If for some reason I needed a low end system I would spend maybe a hundred bucks. I have had two pairs of those kenwood speakers. They are party speakers for sure  but they don't sound good.

that is a little harsh in my opinion.

I have and have had several of the km-xxx series amps.

I would agree the pre's and others are substandard, but those amps are sleepers. They were rated at 150wpc - I think it is more realistically like 80wpc with peaks at 150 - but hey, they sound good. I think very neutral or maybe a little warm.

I believe, that these were sold as "sets". Mening you bought the km208 amp with its sister parts. They were never sold as a single unit. I also believe that all ofhte these amps are "electronically" the same. They all had the exact same specs.

I have owners manuals on several different sets - that is how I know this.

Anyway, I think that asking price is WAY to high as well.

Are we in D$S? Oops - my apologies if we are not....

Great amps when coupled with the basci pre's
Just my $0.02 worth

I can see where he would want $350 for all of that stuff, but he's not going to get it, just a bunch of insulting lowball offers. He should just keep it and use it as a party system.

yep, that would be more accurate.

Don't play nice because you see it in my sig :D

When my dac/headphone amp arrives I'll be plugging it into the secondary input on my poweramp. I just... don't really trust the Kenny pre to open up the beautiful digital music fairy world that is potentially hidden away inside of the dac.

They're decent sounding enough, but resale on those is in the dumpster. He'll be lucky to get $150.

I got the pre, fully functional and in decent shape for $18. At that price I was like, WHY NOT?!

So, at rates like that even $150 sounds like a stretch.
