These were a Christmas present. The tweeters have been replaced with what look like Advent tweeters, only without "Advent Corp." written on the faceplates. I'm thinking the woofers have also been replaced with later KLH 17 woofers. These woofers look like the ones in the later model 17 (with the tiny tweeter), but the cabinets are the old style. Or maybe these speakers were made during a transition period? Judging by the sound, I think they've been recapped too. Problem: one of the woofers reads open. I tried wiggling the tinsel leads to no avail. The one that does work sounds really nice! I'm debating buying an original woofer on eBay, but since the tweets have been replaced, would it hurt to just buy a new set of woofers that have similar (or better) specs? EconoWave is also a possibility, but I JUST finished a pair today.
