Klipsch Tangent T40 vs REALISTIC VTG 2 MACH 1

Could some who have heard these 2 different speakers give me some feedback on them.

I breifly saw the the Klipsch community did not think the Tangent T40 was the greatest speaker, but then saw other sites that said they were pretty good.

Researching the REALISTIC MACH 1, saw pros and cons alike, but not sure if it was the "VTG 2" Mach 1. Do they have a lot of bass ?

Well who's heard them and what do you think about the 2. Thanks !

I don't mean to speak for the Klipsch community at all... I would however suggest that the 'general' feeling amongst Klipscheads is the bigger the Klipsch the better. So, in a relative sense, the Tangent line, which I'm not familar with at all, might be viewed as "not as good" because the bulk of the guys (and gals?) there are looking at & lusting after the RF series or the Heritage series or perhaps some of the nuts, looking for the cinema series.

Well, I tried to make that all a single run-on sentence but didn't quite do it. :D

Yup, I know. That's why I posted here, instead of there ! I'm sure there's lot that have heard both here.

It was maked on the Speakers VTG 2 Mach 1
Not likely "on" the speaker, having owned all but model Three's. I'm thinking VTG is just Vintage. Vintage 2 would likely be 4024a. 40-4024 was the first and most sought after since they were made only one year, the introduction year, and carried a lifetime warranty (to the original owner with proof of purchase, of course). Some of this is covered in the famous Mach One thread which covers many updates, fixes and upgrades.

Unlike biased audio nuts, I happen to have a liking for many different makes and models and have yet to meet a speaker that would solidly end my quest, and likely if said speaker exists it's likely well beyond my reach.

Anyway, my 4024a sound quite nice after recapping, factory values. In the near future is the VL upgrade +1, which will include additional changes discussed in the thread and through PM's. Klipsh, I would think, is Klipsh. Meaning? From bottom to top you are likely dealing with overall quality. Sound wise likely no different from any other manufacturer, as you plod your way up the latter the performance gets better.

I would love to hear opinions on the comparison, but hopefully from someone who actually can do a side by side and not go from memory, hear say or whatever. Nothing worse than totally subjective opinions.

Thanks for your input. I have no chance. To hear them before I purchase them so....... I would like to get a idea from others of what they think. It would be nice if every 2 or 3 speakers one was pondering over have been tested by many others side by side. But in the real world it's just not likely. There was very limited info on the web about the 2.

Do you know the link to that thread, I searched and did not see it. Surely others here have had both and can give some input. I can always kinda remember my feeling about speaker's that I have had. Most time it's the best and worst that stand out.

I just want to see what other who've owned and listen felt. So please post if you have owned reguardless. It's better than what I have right now, which is no chance to hear unless I buy from out of state. Thanks.

Ah, VTG 2 Mach 1 = vintage pair of Mach Ones, makes sense. I have limited experience with Klipsch speakers. The only pair I have owned were the bookshelf sized ones that didn't impress me. I've heard the tall ones at Best Buy and wasn't very impressed. I've never heard any of the ones that people seem to really want.

I've had three pairs of Mach Ones and felt that they sounded best with plenty of power. They would play quite loud with a 40 wpc receiver, buy when running off a 200 wpc Yamaha M-70 power amp, they not only seemed more powerful, but also had a greater sense of presence and seemed more refined. Driven by the M-70, I liked them better than any Klipsch I have heard, but remember that I haven't heard any of the desirable Klipschs.

I have owned at least five or six pairs of speakers that I thought sounded better than the Mach Ones, including Mach Twos.

Here is the thread http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=261425

OK, where to begin. Let's say you've lived in the same place for 30 years. over that time nothing in the room changed and none of your equipment changed but your speakers. With each successive "upgrade" there was a A/B that took place with the winner remaining only as long as the next contender came along. Let's also assume that there was no deterioration in components, i.e. drivers, xovers, etc.

Can you, in your wildest imagination believe such a scenario? Yet we read posts of "I remember...." Remember what?? Had I been able to purchase JBL 4312 when I wanted them, and at a time when my ears may have discerned the quality, what's to say that the room and remainder of my equipment would bring out the best in that equipment? Of course someone will say "but you would have been able to afford the rest...yada yada". OK, how many times have you driven down the street and seen some beat up, barely running vehicle with nice new shiney 20's on it? Ever scratched your head and wonder WTF?

If it isn't head to head, it doesn't mean squat. Our tastes change, evolve and grow. Our knowledge and perception changes and grows. Whatever measurements we used in an earlier time of our lives, is a measurement that likely is not current or has been augmented or totally replaced with new knowledge and experience, making it near impossible to be objective in ones comparison. Just the fact that T.S. info is so accepted, readily available and practiced and yet so painfully absent on much of the vintage equipment we covet.

In the end the best advice always is the same "trust your ears", which of course will never change over time, eh?

Oh, your very welcome. Hope you'll let us know what you decide in the end. If it will help any, it took me 36 years to get my first Mach One's (actually 2 pairs at once), and it's likely they will be with me till I can no longer hear, or they are passed on to one of my children, or grandchildren so that they too get to experience vintage audio.
