Large Advent vs. New Large Advent

My 1st speakers were Advent/1 in utility cabinet. I always wanted to have an Original Large Advent. Today I got a nice pair of New Large Advent in walnut cabinets, see pictures. Woofers need to be refoamed and both tweeters don’t work. It seems that both drivers are exactly the same as in my Advent/1, so I temporary switched a tweeter from Advent/1 to New Large Advents and they work fine there. So I guess I have to find two tweeters.

By the way, one of dead tweeter has a label “Nals Tweeter. This replacement driver is for use only in the Advent Loudspeaker above SN 300.000. Designed and manufactured by Advent Corp.”. So this tweeter was already a replacement and it also blows. What’s going on? And my speakers SN are much below 300.000 (AA 59.000 numbers).

My questions are:
1. Why both tweeters got dead (so I will avoid this to happen in the future)?

2. Where is the best way to get these tweeters? Do they have to be specifically from New Large Advent or from any other Advent (like from Advent/1, etc.) would be fine?

3. Reading reviews on both Large Advent and New Large Advent, it seems that New Advent is more advanced acoustically. Is it noticeable or negligible difference?

4. What Advent considered rarer Large Advent or New Large Advent? And which is considered more collectible?

Question

1: Don't turn it up so loud especially with low powered amplifiers.

2:With all the people doing econowave with Advents post a wanted in AK classifieds.

3: New is supposed to be improved tweeter. Old woofer goes couple hertz lower.

4: Advent and collectible? There's a awful lot of them. But oldest have more of a following I'd guess.
 
You also are in a great position to do the econo-waveguide upgrade to them, since you do not have working tweeters. It will be more expensive than replacement tweeters, but whether or not that is worth it is up to you.
 
Your speakers would not be AA 59,000 numbers. They would be A4 59,000 numbers.

This means they are New Advent Loudspeakers (the A code) and have serial numbers in the 459,000 range.

EDIT: The tweeters being blown again means the previous owner fed too much current through them and burnt them up. Just don't do that.

I had a tweeter not working in an Advent and the resistor in the crossover was the culprit. Two new ones were less than $2.
 
Actually, the original Advent tweeters should be right around 4 ohms for DCR and the New Advent tweeters should be somewhere around 2.5 or thereabouts :^)
