More Class-A than ever!
So I bought this Leak today and it wouldn't play tapes, the capstan belt had turned into tar so on with the gloves and armed with an abundance of q tips and acetone I cleaned the remnants of the old belt off the capstan and the motor and fitted a new belt I had on hand which is slightly to tight so I'll have to order a new belt. But I have another problem, when I try to play a cassette it just chews them up, thankfully it only killed one of my test tapes, I've noticed that neither of the reels spin when in play but the supply reel spins when rewinding and the take up reel spins when fast forwarding. Any idea's?

Ah! I think I've found the problem, the belt that I'm using is stopping the little plastic roller underneath the capstan flywheel from making contact with the take up reel. Just measured the size belt I'll need using the good ol' string method and it looks like I'm gonna need a 280ish'mm flat belt. I might have one in my pile of junk components, I'll have to look.
