Hi. I started doing some cosmetic finishing work on the speaker enclosures and took a few photos of what’s inside. I think everyone will find it interesting because there’s very little information available online. I’ll also add that bitumen mats are glued to the inside walls of the enclosure, and there are 2 rolls of white sound insulation on top and bottom.

The wooden block is a component part of the bracing system that tensions the front and back panels. The block is positioned on the threaded long brass rod that is fitted to the bass speaker's magnet. There is an article by D.A. Barlow," The Development of a Sandwich-Construction Loudspeaker System," which is available from JAES June 1970 or via the Loudspeaker JAES Anthology Number 1; Vol.1- Vol.25.

I think the world radio history archive is an incredible resource. I noticed in the same magazine there's an article by Peter Baxandall (of tone control fame) on page 41 and an article about tonearms by Tejinder Singh Randhawa on page 73.
