Least Fav Christmas Tunes?

Okay, everyone has their favorite holiday tunes; songs that conjure wonderful memories of life, family, or a favorite time. 'Nuff said!

Anyone besides me have tunes that they try to AVOID hearing? You know, those 'change the channel', 'spin the dial', 'run from the store tunes'.

At the top of my list is "Grandma got run over by a Reindeer!" and anything by those awful Jingle Dawgs! :tears:

Bruce Springsteen "Santa Claus is Coming to Town"

This gets overplayed so much I dread having to listen to it when we switch to Christmas music in our store next week. My guess is I will have to listen to it over 100 times by Christmas.

Dan Fogelberg's "same Auld Lang Syne" as this is not really a Christmas song.

Elton John's "Step into Christmas" - and this coming from a big Elton John fan since the '70s.

About 95% of the stuff that Walk 97.5FM in NY plays over and over and over again. Aaahhhh.

Thank God I have my own Christmas collection! Ho Ho Ho Meeeerrrryyyy Chrrrrriiiissstmas.

McCartney's Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time.... so good a Christmas in fact that he forgot to write lyrics...

Most any song by a current pop or rock musician - just doesn't usually capture the spirit and meaning of Christmas, IMHO. And I like pop and rock music!

I actually don't like much of any Christmas music by the time the holiday actually rolls around. Its cool for about a week in early December, but by the 25th I'm ready to spin the dial whenever it comes on. By that point I've heard every one of them dozens and dozens of times.

'Jingle Bell Suck', I mean 'Jingle Bell Rock'
used to work in a store with a dancing elf that played that 3-4 times/hour. barf.

'same auld' is a close 2nd. barf 2.

Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer. I make it a point to avoid it every Christmas season. Five years and counting!
Tom

My least favorite is every xmas tune ever made and even ones that have yet to be made. I avoid stores at all cost during this time and any other place that forces that noise on people.

Yeah, both of these are pretty awful. Coming from Springsteen though what else would you expect:D

All of them.

+1. I don't hate the Springsteen/Santa Claus as much as some of the others, but I don't like christmas music at all, at least what I normally hear on the radio.

Our now-defunct classical station used to play christmas music I didn't hate, but they're gone.

This one. I was on a music forum for years and every Christmas it would get taken over by discussing how terrible this song was. Or tricking somebody into listening to it.

I think I have now completely come over to the "I hate ALL OF THEM" camp.

When you start hearing these songs OVER and OVER, starting Nov 1st, at every single bleepin' store you go into, they get awfully old. Of course the not-so-subtle "you must BUY THINGS" theme that accompanies Christmas doesn't help either.

Any parody, gimmicky, pop, spoofy garbage. I love Christmas music, but I'm pretty choosy about it.
