Lettermen Albums

I know we all joke about the Lettermen, Striesand, Herb Alpert etc at the thrifts...but which Lettermen album do you see the most of at the Thrifts, SA, GWs etc. The ones I always see are the albums from the mid 70's and early 80's i.e. "The Time Is Right" or isn't the original classic line up. Rarely do I see any of their albums from the 60's....I'm looking to fill the gaps in my Dad's collection but the one's he's missing are never to be found and ebay asks too much and I'd like to inspect them first as some of them look like crap......LOL

I know the SA near me has quite a few lettermen lp's. I think I'll be that way wednesday I'll check dates and condition on them if their still there. I'm sure they will be they have been there quite a while. What titles are you looking for?

Far and away the one I see the most around here is "She Cried".

Dumont-First with the finest in television.

The two Lettermen Lps you will always see the most are "The Lettermen - And Live" and "The Best of The Lettermen". Both of these Lps sold a TON, which explains why there are so many copies out there. And, the "Live" album had their biggest hit "Going Out Of My Head/Cant Take My Eyes Off Of You. The Best of album is the one where they are standing on the staircase, and had all of their early hits.

I'll have to ask my Dad which ones he's missing...but I know he has the Best and the "Lettermen - And Live" albums...I think he may have around 10 lps of them but I really don't know which ones. I just thought it would be cool if I could complete his collection....

Thats a great idea, to complete his collection, however, if he only has 10 albums, you have a long way to go!!

The Lettermen had 32 charting albums on Capitol records. After that, they issued albums on Applause Records, and their own label, Alpha-Omega.

So you would need to dig up the remaining 22 Albums. I'm sure they are out there tho.

Good Luck!!

I have seen some of the Letterman Albums on my trips. I will take a closer look and let you know :)

You should be able to get the discography on the Letterman's wikipedia entry to figure out what you need.

Post a list - I think I have a bunch of Letterman titles in my basement from a couple of large collections that I picked up last year and would be glad to pass along to an AKr if they are playable and you can use them. :music:

Thanks everyone for the help, my dad is really picky about albums...he says if there is no ring wear, writing on the label, has to be VG+ to NM condition. No split or taped seams..LOL he's worse than me!!!! He really doesn't care for the mid-70's Lettermen. I think the ones he's missing are as follows:

Warm
More Hit Sounds Of The Lettermen
A Lettermen Kind Of Love
The Lettermen Look At Love
College Standards
She Cried
A New Song For Young Love
Everything's Good About You
Special Request
I Have Dreamed
Best of The Lettermen, Vol 2

I'm gonna do a search around the L.A. area when I get a chance and try my sources here first in San Diego...I like the thrill of the hunt...LOL Hopefully I'll run into these soon..wish me luck..

My parents loved The Lettermen. They always had terrible taste in music. That stuff had ME going out of my head. All the stuff that Sinatra ever did, and the only Sinatra record they ever bought was "Strangers in the Night". But they had quite a few of the Lettermen.

That's funny...I would run and cringe everytime my dad would put on Ray Conniff, Percy Faith and 101 Strings...LOL....The Lettermen I could tollerate. My Dad is getting back into vinyl so I think this would be a good surprise for him just to fill in the gaps.... I kind feel obligated since he had to buy records for me when I was younger and risk embarrasement.... (can you imagine being in your Navy uniform and buying "With Love, Bobby" by Bobby Sherman" for your 7 year old...LOL)...So I guess it's payback time now...I don't mind... My Dad is worth it and at least with music we share a common bond...somewhat...LOL

Brother, if I had them to give I'd meet you half way in Temecula and they'd be yours. I'll keep my eyes open for them.

It's 50 miles, a veritable drive around the block in Southern CA!

I'll check but I suspect that my basement copies probably don't meet the bar. Good hunting, sounds like a fun alternative when flipping through The Usual Crap in the bins.

Yeah...hopefully I do find what he's looking for and in the condition he wants....LOL which might be highly unlikely...but I'll give it a shot...Thanks for looking though everyone!
