Linn Tukan drivers

Does anyone know a source, other than eBay for Linn Tukan drivers? Otherwise I'll have to part these things out.

I picked up a pair of Craigslist that were "in perfect shape, work perfectly."
Of course, they don't. The dustcover on one of the mid-woofers was melted off and the voice coil is completely separated from the cone. I'm assuming that the other driver was stressed out, too. The glass is partially full (but not half), as the tweeters work!

Here's the burned out driver.

Linn?

They are great speakers and handbuilt. They are worth a fix up.
I would love to fix them up, but on this side of the pond drivers are apparently rare. I'll check the Bay for a couple of months and then reassess my situation.

Boy, what a shame, great speakers. Might be worth it to find a decent replacement if a search for oem turns up nothing.

Just heard back from Linn. It'll be $200 plus tax and shipping for new drivers. That's a bit out of my league right now. I'll have to keep an eye on Barter Town and eBay for a better price. :(

I contacted Millersound and they can rebuild the driver for about $100, including cost to ship back to me. They will use the original cone and surround, fortunately!
I need to put the other speaker through the paces to make sure all is OK with it. I suspect it was stressed out pretty hard. If it's shot, then I may as well buy new drivers from Linn.

This cheap entry into Linn speakers isn't turning out to be so cheap!

I sent the driver off to Millersound and have it back. I don't know if they replaced the surround or not, but it's a bit softer than the other one. I was concerned at first, as listening in near-field revealed more, but not so tight bass in the repaired driver. I set them up in my listening room, on top of the Vandersteens, and my concerns were unfounded. The biwire connections were an easy switch from the Vandies to the Linns. I'm a lazy man.

I think these speakers are probably better suited to my listening space than the Vandersteens (2ce). They aren't as laid back and "airy" but the soundstage is easier to get into. With the Vandies, I have to be in a specific spot, reclined just so to get the full effect. With the Linns, I'm not so constrained. The bass isn't as pronounced, obviously, but is much better than expected for a speaker as small as the Tukan.

I have a NHT sub and amp that I will add at some point. I tried the sub combo with my NHT SuperZero speakers, but couldn't get the synchronization correct. The SuperZeros couldn't get low enough to mate well with the sub, or I couldn't get the settings right. These Linns should mate well. If it works out, the combo may displace my Vandies.

It feels weird to think of moving to a smaller speaker, but my listening space is just so small.

I don't think it is weird at all. I have tried a number of highly regarded speakers in my home....far and away the most enjoyable are British two-ways, Monitor Audio and now Harbeth. Good luck!
