I have a Toshiba 3950 (on loan to my son) with simple Swenson mod (filter bypass) and am currently using a Pioneer DV 525 (no mods) that is very enjoyable. Chuck :thmbsp:

I am using the analogue outs on a Marantz DV8300 , its become my CDP of choice , don't use it for anything else , got it cheap ( NZ$106) second hand.
Its well built , copper chassis etc and a good silent transport unlike the POS transport in the Marantz DV6001 i paid lots for that does the playing of DVDs .

I've been using Pioneer DVL-91, DVL-90 and DVL-909 combo units as my main CD players for a while now. Usually digital outputs into DACs or surround receivers.

I use a Denon 5900 and a Sony DVP NS999ES. Both sound just fine to me. You can turn the video off on both machines for audio only which I have done.

sony DVP S9000ES excelent sacd playback

Ditto.

The user interface is eclectic and not to everyone's liking, including mine, but the build quality of this player is very high and it does sound excellent on SACD and pretty decent on redbook. Will NOT play CD-Rs though, specifically designed not to from what I've learned..

That would be a typical Sony trick , they always seem to be at the leading edge of that sort of thing.

#@!%&$!!! I wish I had asked for pic's because appearance is important to me and I don't have the slightest what most of the look like? :sigh:, Chuck

Oppo DV-970HD. I have the analog out running to my 2-ch rig and the digital out running to my HT rig. Works well for me.

Here's your pic:
