Little round colored markers

Does anyone know where, or if, you can get the above red, white, blue and green thingies that slip over the cartridge pins to mark the channels, as on some Shure carts? I think it would be neat to put them on all of my carts.

Welcome to AK. I doubt it. What I do if the markings are hard to read is to mark the pins with red, green and blue Sharpies, leaving the white (left signal) pin unmarked.

All you have to do is strip a little insolation off the same color wire and slip it onto the pin.

That's all they do for a lot of nice cartridges.

All of the above! Insulation would be the easiest if you have some wire kicking around. Heatshrink in that size is pretty tiny and I wouldn't apply heat that close to the cartridge, so it should be the non shrunk dimension.

All good ideas that work. I use heat shrink because I have it in the 4 colors already, to insulate and identify headshell leads when I replace or upgrade cartridge clips (I'm always breaking old ones off on older arms with dry joints, and I much prefer the newer P-type as an upgrade when I feel industrious). I've never had a problem with heat close to the cartridge, as Monty mentions — half-a second 3 inches away from a Bic lighter is all it takes, the cartridge doesn't even get warm.

Using a soldering iron to shrink the tubing and of course you can protect the pin with a cover that won't shirk and you don't need to be too close of for very long. Doing one then letting the cartridge cool before going to the next one will also keep the heat low the critical areas.

Heat shrink would work fine without heating. It does have a slight amount of stretch so you just need to find the right size.
