Lost my left channel

Well here we go. Picked up a Marantz 25c with a Garrard turntable mounted on top Saturday.. it's been working fine up until about 20 minutes ago. Left Channel went out. If I turn it off then turn it back on again it comes on for a couple seconds then goes out again. Honestly I don't have the ability to open this up and figure it out I'll probably take it into a local shop. Any clue how bad this is going to hurt?

I'll keep an eye out for it here ... <G>

Check the obvious first. Try swapping cables and see if the problem follows. Turn the unit off and exercise all the switches, stop to stop slowly several times on the pots. Turn it back on and try wiggling any toggles. Swap to another set of cables if you've got spares. Check the fuses ... many units have one on each channel.

Luck wit it, eh.

That was the first thing I did was switch the cables and it's definitely the left side. I'll have to try messing with the knobs for sure. Thanks.

You will get limited response in the forum since it only really for the radio section of your receiver turntable. It has been my experience when things work for a few seconds then cut out it a bad transistor or cap works for a short time, then as voltage comes up it cuts out. You may want to post in vintage solid state.

Good repair stations get c. $75/hr. The estimate fee counts toward the repair.
