I'm sure a Japanese collector will swoop in at the last minute. Thing isn't in too bad of shape but a little polish goes a long way.

Check out the Q &A's and the guys lowballing:)
Who do you think is lowballing?

It's incomplete, and in about as rough condition as you will ever see a Paragon short of one that's been in a fire or flood.

It's thousands of dollars worth of restoration work away from collector condition.

The offers in the Q & A are quite fair and within reason.

They are big- supposedly it has a wide sweet spot because of the diffuser. Guy knows what he has and it won't go cheap.

If they thought it would go for less, why not just bid instead of throwing out a figure? We all know the answer to that one. Not only that, but lowballer 5 made the exact same offer that was shot down from lowballer 2. It's one thing to be cheap, I can respect that, but cheap and illiterate isn't a good look.

I've personally never heard one of these let alone seen one in person. As far as rarity goes, they're certainly near the top when it comes to vintage JBL. I bet it was accompanied by a complete vintage tube McIntosh or Marantz system of the same era.

Such a speaker is more than simply a speaker. It's a collectible. It's a piece of art. It's a focal point of a well appointed room. It's style may not appeal to everyone but it's got style in spades. I'd own one in a heartbeat if I could ever stumble across one . . .

I bet it goes for around $7,500.

Admittedly I didn't look close up at the pics.
However I could fabricate a refraction panel and restore the finish and it wouldn't come close to a thousand.
The only question would be if all the drivers are present and working well.
If it's an AKer bidder, I wish him the lowest of "lowball" winning bid!
