Loudness switch quick fix?

Picked up a Kenwood KR-4070 receiver today. Everything works except the loudness switch. The 4 little plastic ears broke off of the shaft allowing the spring from the switch to get entangled in the spring for the button. Any way to make this work again without replacing the switch? The switch actually works when manually activated (with the bonnet off)...

bypass or remove the switch and forget it was there. no one like loudness control anyway.

Sorry not true. Since I listen at low levels most of the time I use the Loudness switch most of the time. Afterall that is why they put the thing there on almost everything.

+4 on the value of the loudness switch.

I use mine 24/7 on the systems in my home & work offices, which rarely get cranked up enough to not need them. Even the biamped one at work where I can set the sub volume independently does better at very low output with it switched on.

Just the way the ear works; the feature wouldn't exist in the first place if that weren't universally true.

Thanks for the link. While I have fairly good soldering skills, and could replace the switch, I have no idea what the correct replacement would be. If someone out there know which one I need, I'll get it and replace the broken switch. Personally, I don't like the effect of the loudness switch, so I have it set to off. So that I don't accidentally activate it, I'm leaving the push-button off for now. Not crazy about how that looks, but I'm patient, maybe something will turn up. I see one now on e-bay, but the switch is selling for more than I paid for the receiver...
