Luxman D 404 Score

I just scored a well taken care of Luxman D 404 cd player for $15. While it is a basic unit, it happens to be one of the heaviest cd players I have encountered. It seems to work well, anybody have any experience with this one. I know these are pretty ancient as far as cds go (mine is dated August 1985).

Excellent score! I have a D-404, also made in 8/85, which sounds very good to me.

The D404 is basically the same unit as the D103 which I own.

Indeed, pretty heavy unit. 3rd gen redbook if I'm not mistaken. It has a Toshiba pickup and many Toshiba IC's. Better than my early 90ies Luxman units, DZ112 & 111.
